Cruise Description
8 days | Malta • Sicily • Corfu • Kalamata • Crete • Mykonos • Athens
With the VASCO DA GAMA you will first set course for Syracuse in Sicily before cruising between the fabulous Greek islands. Corfu belongs to the Ionian Islands and is not only known for the fact that Empress Sisi of Austria felt completely at home here. Its coasts, churches and the distinctive old town of Corfu Town have also earned it an excellent reputation. Kalamata is not located on an island, but on the Greek mainland, contrary to what the Caribbean landscape here would suggest. But this does not detract from its charm. Instead, we visit Crete and Mykonos, two of the most beautiful Greek islands. Make sure you have enough memory on your photo camera. You will need it!
Highlights:
- In Syracuse, Sicily, you will effortlessly travel through time to the 8th century BC. The historical excavation site of Neapolis makes it possible.
- On Corfu find out for yourself why Sisi called it her favorite island. And you can find out for yourself if you share the same opinion.
- Experience mythology at first hand in the palace of Knossos. The labyrinth of the Minotaur is said to have been located here.
- Speaking of mythology: Artemis and Apollo are said to have been born on Delos. Today, the site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
