There is no shortage of places worth visiting in this region which includes three world heritage sites - the Alto Douro Wine Region, the Historic City of Porto and the Archaeological Park of the Coa Valley. There are two national parks - the International Douro and the Alvão. The landscape with mountain areas and highlands, valleys and river beaches of rare beauty, the monumentality of the regions's churches and castles, ancient caves and farms that produce the famous Port wine and the only manifestations of ancient rock art, are aspects which must be seen and enjoyed.
