  2. Hurley is a village and civil parish in the English county of Berkshire. Hurley is famous for its proximity to the River Thames. It is also within easy reach of Henley-on-Thames, Oxford and London. Hurley has a picturesque lock and is the site of first church was reputed to have been built c.700AD.

    Hurley is an historical village and is mentioned in the Saxon Chronicles, and before the Reformation was home to a Benedictine priory located near to the river. The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin at the end of the High Street is part of the original Priory Church, and The Olde Bell Inn, originally the monks' guesthouse, is one of the oldest hostelries in Britain dating from the twelfth century.
