  1. Port Overview

  1. Pleven, Bulgaria

  2. Pleven is the seventh most populous city in Bulgaria, located in the very heart of the Danubain Plain in the historical region of Moesia, surrounded by the low limestone hills of the Pleven Heights. The city's central location in Northern Bulgaria defines its importance as a big administrative, economic, political cultural and transport centre. Pleven is located 170km away from Bulgaria's capital city of Sofia.

Getting around the city on foot is quite straightforward. The city is split by a long pedestrian street with many shops and service facilities.

Pleven has preserved its cultural and historical heritage in many museums, monuments, ossuaries and the unique Bulgarian panorama. The name of the town reached world fame at the time of Russian-Turkish War. In December 1877 with the liberation of Pleven the victorious result of the war is defined. The press all over Europe denotes the event and the grateful Bulgarian population built many monuments for the heroes of Pleven epos.
