Krefeld is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located northwest of Düsseldorf, its centre lying just a few kilometres to the west of the River Rhine. Krefeld is known for its velvet and silk industry which has evolved since the 17th century. It also a popular location for companies from the chemical, engineering, food and beverage, medical and information technology.
