  1. Port Overview

  1. Port Hedland, Western Australia

  2. Port Hedland is in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. BlueScope Steel, formerly BHP Steel, is a major contributor to Port Hedland's economy. It is a natural deep anchorage port which, as well as being the main fuel and container receiver point for the region, was seen as perfect for shipment of the iron ore being mined in the ranges located inland from the town.

The town's location on the ocean provides for a variety of aquatic leisure activities including superb fishing. Whales and nesting flatback turtles can be seen in season. Millstream and Karijini National Parks are within easy driving distance, while Broome and the Kimberley are also within reach.
