  1. Port Overview

  1. Denia, Spain

  2. Denia is located in the province of Alicante, Spain, on the Costa Blanca halfway between Alicante and Valencia. The city, is located at the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula and is very close to the Cap de Sant Antoni, the closest point of the Iberian Peninsula to the Balearic Islands.

The city of Denia is located in a natural port on the slopes of Montgo (753 metres high) - a hill crowned by a very ancient castle. One of the main attractions of Denia are the beaches. It has around 20 km. of coast divided in three parts: one sandy, the harbour and one rocky. The port serves as the division between the northern beaches, Les Marines, and the southern ones, Les Rotes.

Almost everywhere in the town you can find ancient ruins, including the ruins of an historic fortress which overlooks the town. The fortress, with Arab remains, is well worth a visit, along with other monuments and museums showing the history of the city, as well its archaeological and ethnic history. It is very interesting to walk around the old fisherman neighborhood, the harbour or the main street (Carrer Marqués de Campos).
