  2. Bau-Bau or Bau-bau is the main city on Buton island, Indonesia. It lies on the southern part of south east Sulawesi region, bordered at the north by the Buton strait.

Buton Island is well known for its asphalt, called Buton or Butas Asphalt, and for its teak and ironwood. The most fascinating cultural aspect of Buton Island can be enjoyed when local people conduct ceremonies, celebrations and folk events, which welcome honored guests.
