Ko Samui, Thailand

Ko Samui is an island off the east coast of the Kra Isthmus in Thailand, close to the mainland Surat Thani town. It is Thailand's third largest island, rich with natural resources, white sandy beaches, coral reefs and coconut trees.

Ko Samui is all in all a fairly big island. The most popular and commercial beaches are Chaweng and Lamai, while the northern beaches and their adjacent villages of Mae Nam, Bophut, Bang Rak (Big Buddha) and Choeng Mon are more peaceful choices, and the west coast beaches are still (comparatively) quiet.

Port Location – The main port is located at Ma Thon, located on the western side of the island, facing the mainland.

Travel Links – Samui Airport has regular domestic flights from Bangkok, Trat (Koh Chang), Chiang Mai, Pattaya (U-Tapao), Krabi and Phuket. There are also international direct flights available from Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur (Subang).
