In recent years, the company has evolved from a leading river cruise provider with more than 30 years of experience into a well-known provider of small ships with destination-oriented ocean routes. With its fleet, which is as modern as it is comfortable, nicko cruises travels the world’s oceans as well as all domestic waterways and coastal sections that are in demand for tourists. In 2023, the programme includes not only 22 river ships, but also the classic ocean-going vessel VASCO DA GAMA.
With its "time to discover" philosophy, nicko cruises focuses on cruise schedules that are rich in discovery and on intensive travel experiences in the product fields river and ocean. The product features of so-called “slow cruising”, such as small ships and long anchorage times, are combined with emotional moments at nicko cruises. During the cruises, guests always have plenty of time for exploring. Thanks to the large variety of products, everyone will find just the right trip at nicko cruises, individually tailored to their needs. The ships in the fleet are all in the 4 to 5-star category according to German land hotel trade standards. Ships
A fine selection of meals is an essential part of life on board of all nicko river cruises. The day starts with a substantial buffet-style breakfast whilst lunch and dinner consist of a wide selection of courses. Dinner is served at your table, allowing us to really pamper you. On one or two occasions per week, we vary the seated dinner with large theme buffets. We place great value on a healthy mix of international dishes an specialities local to the area we are passing through.
In the Panorama Restaurants on board all meals are served at one sitting. You can reserve your seat in the Restaurant as soon as you embark and that seat remains yours for the duration of your cruise. We recommend smart casual dresses, particulary at dinner. For the Gala Dinner we do appreciate a greater degree of formality.
Gratuities
It is common practice around the world for a satisfied guest to reward the services of staff accordingly. The amount of the tip is, of course, at the guest’s discretion and should be in recognition of good service. We recommend 7–10 € per guest and per overnight stay for the ship’s crew. The cruise director, local tour guides and bus drivers are not included in this. You can, however, also thank them by giving them a tip. For cruises on MS MEKONG NAVIGATOR, tips for the ship personnel are already included in the price.
