The Ushuaia Adventure Corporation are a world class ship owner who own the vessel Ushuaia, however she is chartered to Antarpply Expeditions who are a leading operator of small ship expedition cruises to Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic islands. Antarpply is based in Ushuaia and specializes in taking small groups and individual passengers to some of the most spectacular, remote and pristine parts of the world on board the USHUAIA.
Most Antarctic passenger vessels carry more than 100 passenges, hoever with Tucan's maximum group size of just 66, you'll spend more time getting snow underneath your boots and less time waiting in line for your turn to touch the wilderness (the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators state a max of 100 people are allowed on shore at any time). In additiona, the faster cruising speed of the "Ushuaia" means that they usually complete the crossing of the Drake Passage by the morning of day 3 (rather than the evening as on most voyages) giving almost a full additional day in the Antarctic.
Ships
The Main Dining Room is the large area where the entire group eat together in one sitting. Three meals per day are served at the tables or occasionally as a 'help yourself' style smorgasbord.
The meals onboard usually consist of an American breakfast and a three course lunch and dinner. A typical menu will include soup and a chicken or fish main course. Vegetarians can be catered for if requested at the time of booking. The "Ushuaia" also has a BBQ on one of it smost spacious decks and the crew will aim to have at least one BBQ meal during the voyage.
Water is prufied onboard and togetter with tea and coffee, is supplied free of charge 24 hours a day.
Tipping
The customary gratuity to the ship's service personnel is made as a blanket contribution at the end of the voyage and is divided among the crew. You will receive detailed guidelines aboard.
Tipping is a very personal matter and the amount you wish to give is at your discretion. As a generally accepted guideline, we suggest US$10 per person per day. Cash US Dollars would be appreciated, unfortunately credit cards cannot be accepted.
