Piriapolis, Uruguay

Piriápolis is a coastal city located in Maldonado, Uruguay, an hour's drive east of the national capital, Montevideo. It is a summer resort in the country, predating the larger and more popular resort town of Punta del Este.

The life of the city is centered on the waterfront promenade and La Rinconda, Los Angeles and Portales beaches which form one long beach. Surrounding the city are pines, eucalyptus and hills; there is also an animal reservation with native flora.

Transport Links – The International Curbelo Airport (Laguna del Sauce) is 20 km from Piriápolis. From Uruguay, the company Aeromas has regular services to Montevideo that allows connection with the cities of Paysandú, Salto, Artigas, Tacuarembó and Rivera.

There are many companies that offer ferry services and transport passengers and cars. The companies Buquebus, Ferryturismo and Cacciola have regular services that also link Buenos Aires with Montevideo, Colonia del Sacramento and in peak season also with Piriapolis.

By bus from Montevideo you can take the Interbalnearia route up to the access to Piriapolis in the kilometer 82.
