Erlangen is a city in Bavaria, Germany, located at the confluence of the river Regnitz and its tributary, the Untere Schwabach. Erlangen is renowned for its university and as a centre of medicine. It is also a centre for high-tech development, a Huguenot town and a magnet for culture lovers.
Erlangen is one of the best preserved of German towns, with baroque-style streets laid out in a rectangular arrangement. It boasts many fine historical buildings which are indicated by huge map pins dotted all over town. Examples include the Huguenot Church and the Margravial Palace.
