Sausalito is is a San Francisco Bay Area city, located in Marin County, California, United States. It is situated near the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge and has a reputation as an artistic enclave, as a picturesque residential community (incorporating large numbers of houseboats), and as a tourist destination. It is adjacent to, and largely bounded by, the protected spaces of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
Sausalito offers dozens of interesting and unique tours and nautical excursions and is home to two world renowned attractions - the Bay Model and the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Sausalito’s waterfront area is a must to visit, as is Caledonia Street which is full of great stores, restaurants, cafes and art studios. You can also rent a kayak or boa,t and cruise the waterways, hike or go bike riding. Sausalito has easy access to San Francisco and the scenic north coast with its beaches and redwoods, as well as the wine country.

Two ferry companies serve Sausalito: Blue & Gold Fleet, offers ferry service to/from Pier 41 in San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf. Golden Gate Ferries, offers ferry service to/from the historic Ferry Building in San Francisco's Financial District.
A very popular cycle for tourists to San Francisco is to hire a bike, cycle over the Golden Gate Bridge, and then down into Sausalito.
