Ventspils is a city in northwestern Latvia in the Kurzeme (Courland) region of Latvia, the sixth largest city in the country. Ventspils is situated on the Venta River and the Baltic Sea, and has an ice-free port.
Attractions in Ventspils include Ostas street, the River Venta; the fountain “Boats of The Sun” and the tidy and modern city centre. A popular spot is the city beach, that has been awarded the Blue Flag. The city parks and squares are popular as is the Children’s Town (the Children’s Recreation park). The Old City and Ventspils Castle are also major tourist attractions.

Ferries run between Nynashamn for Stockholm and Ventspils overnight. These are mainly used for transport of HGV's to Sweden but passengers and small vehicles can use the service. Tickets can be purchased from an office at the port.
