Texel is an island in the West Frisian Islands region of the Netherlands. It is located approximately 3km north of the coast of Noord Holland. It is made up of seven villages, smaller townships, forests, nature reserves and expansive white sand beaches.
The dune landscape on Texel is a unique habitat for wildlife. In winter birds of prey and geese take up residence here. Walking and cycling are popular activities. There are extensive bike paths. The southern cycling route takes you to De Petten Lake, home to sheldducks, oystercatchers, lapwings, avocets and black-headed gulls.

Port Location – The closest port to Texel is located at Den Helder (30 mins).
Travel Links – Texel island is about two and a half hours from Amsterdam. You can take the train to Den Helder in Noord-Holland, where there is a bus that takes you to the ferry every 12 minutes after the hour. Transport to Texel is usually by ferry (Royal TESO), from Den Helder, or by air via Texel Airport.
